Next we were on the road to Greenville, South Carolina for the BassMasters Classic. This is a huge outdoor show for fishing enthusiasts and Bass fishing's "Superbowl." KVD was in the hunt until the end and fell to 3rd. Here are 2 quick pics of my buddy Kevin Short from Arkansas who fished his first ever Classic. Dont worry, he did'nt win. This is the event where I borrowed a long lens from an friend of mine. Gave me the itch to buy one so I saved and saved and bought one this month, its real nice....
K-Pink with a Dink. Hey that rhymes!
K-Pink with a little redemption. Nice fish!
March:
Was a mad rush Home as my wife was overly pregnant and ready to birth a baby. March 4th our 2nd child, Sarah Bailey decided to be a rock star and come in to the world 10 days early. All was good and she is truly a blessing to the family.....for now. Kidding!
April:
From there I got back on the road and headed to Texas for another Fishing event called the PAA Toyota Texas Bass Classic. Got to work for the good folks at Lonestar Outdoor News and Wired2fish.com at this event and had a blast shooting. The guys at Wired like things a little different from the normal "Grip and Grin" Fish pics so heres what they got:
If you know Shaw Grigsby he is always carrying around a cup of something, usually day old sweet tea. Here's proof.
Most of May and into June we were busy traveling and such and so no really big shoots during that time for me. We did shoot a wedding but I won't get into that at this point. Shot some more for church and such and then went to the North End of Kentucky Lake and shot one of the BassMaster Elite Series events. Here are some images from that week and the outcome as well.
Day 4 blast-off when the nerves start sinking in.
The trophy Hoist
The end product, The cover to the 2009 Strike King Lure Company Catalog. Proud of this one, doesn't hurt I work there as well as my day job.
Kevin Short in the new Puma FTD
John Crews early morning light in a Puma. Funny story here, I carry all of my equipment when I travel in a pelican case. They are a hardplastic case with a foaminsert and are waterproof and sealed and you could all but run over one before destroying it. We shot in late July, its onyl about 103 degrees out and a 1000% humidity. Nimrod here thought nothing of warm air and a cold camera that had been in a case in the A/C all night. The minute I opened my case in the middle of the lake with 14 boats ready to go my equipment fogs up. Not just small foggy, but freakin; London Fog, bad fog, cant see jack fog! Unreal, my big shot at this gig and it all goes up in a big thick cloud of FOG!!!!!!! Thanks to Kevin Short and his awesome Wife Kerry for staying in a camper 3 minutes away. Kevin rushed me over there at 5:30 in the morning, called Kerry , woke her up, told her to get dressed and to find me a hair dryer. Warm air with warm air and boom, back in business. Thanks guys!
Andy Morgan airing out a new Puma FTD, oh around 78mph!!!
Funny man Marty Stone giving me a thumbs up, I like the shot, The Marketing guy smirked. I guess it wont make the catalog.....

August, September and October all got real fuzzy on me. I coach Girls Varsity Soccer for a local Christian school here in a neighboring county and that overtook alot of mf my time and took me away from shooting some. I shot alot of the girls during games and such but about 2 weeks ago I had a external hard drive literally go up in smoke, bye, bye, pictures....... I am still upset over that one. Main Headline of 2008.....BACK THESE DRIVES UP!!!!!!!
In late September we did get a chance to go to Auburn, Al. to visit family and meet up with some friends. Arnold Gamber a good friend of mine is the head trainer for the football team their and he and then Coach Tommy Tuberville and I fish each year together at Guntersville. Arnold got me and the Wife tix to the Auburn/Tennessee game and I shot this pic of the lifeguard stand on the corner of the main intersection to the stadium. A frat house there uses it to get the fans pumped up. My wife was trying to figure out what I was shooting. I thought it was cool. Your call. War Eagle!
Okay, on to the rest of October. Late October saw another boat shoot and an outdoor media event. A plug on Espnoutdoors.com (http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/general/columns/story?columnist=short_kevin&id=3661626) And some more love from the guys at wired2 fish.com and fishpaa.com
Early Morning fog, love these shots. Fog in the air, not my equipment!
Another in in the fog, launching the rigs.
Marty Stone airing one out for the camera. what you cant see is the 300 pound video camera man sitting in front of me shooting video, check out the link above for more photos of him.
Cool shot of Kevin VanDam with his signature Sexy Shad Crankbait color.
After that November and December became the months of portrait photography and I shot a bunch of it!
Miss Eliza Pearson - She's 1 and adorable.
Emily Glenn - Another adorable little girl and alot of fun to shoot.
Emily's Parents Scott and Amy - These 2 shoots kicked off my portrai work and feel as though they turned out well. It was fun none the less.
Late November saw my favorite Nephew Cole Peyton make his rock star debut into the world. Wait, he's my only nephew. This was his birth announcement pic.
Lastly another church shoot for the Singing Christmas tree production. Jesus is the reason for the season.
Anyway, Long story longer. Thanks to many of you 2008 was a great year for my little photog business. I shot a bunch of different stuff, got my wife in on some of the action as well and just had a fun time pushing the buttons.
I sincerely hope for each of you that reads this blog that 2009 will be a prosperous year for you and your familes and I pray the Lord will bless each of you. Take care, have a wondeful New Year and I'll catch you next year! Thanks for reading and God Bless.
